Ouseburn Project

Academic Project

Presented with a challenge, of having one week to learn as much about a new area, in this case ‘Ouseburn’ and then design and create a physical item that could inform the user about the area. The Ouseburn Valley has been transformed over recent years, with bustling bars, entertainment and lots more, all while keeping it’s industrial charm with the Glasshouse bridge and old chimneys.

To encourage more people to visit the area, and spend while in the area, I created a brightly coloured, square concertina leaflet showcasing each sector that you could find within the Ouseburn. Each sector contained some brief text, a sketched image, a barcode and some co-ordinates. The
co-ordinates were introduced to try create an element of fun, allowing people to use the leaflet as a treasure hunt, following the co-ordinates to each location. Once getting to each location, they would be able to scan the barcode at the shop, farm, restaurant etc. and receive a special discount.
